3. While at Stirling College in Chengdu, I attempted record a couple of podcast discussions about sport with Dr Dan Rossenke, a Canadian sport academic now heading up the Sport Program there. I recorded a few episodes and am happy to post them here.
Episode 1 Introduces a few topics to be covered.
Episode 2 Discusses the use of drugs in sport.
Episode 3 Discusses issues around hosting of major Sporting events like the Olympic Games and highlights problems associated with them
Episode 4 This converstation a little controversial as it challenges the assumptions of Governance in Olympic Sports Organisations and the people who assume positions of power in sport.
Episode 5 – This conversation talks about gender issues in sport, specifically transgender participation leading to a general discussion about fairness in sport and is it even possible for sport to be fair for everyone.
Episode 6 – The final episode recorded before leaving China, covers thoughts on medal tallies as a measure of success in sport, leading to a discussion about what a successful sport system might look like.
